Search Tips

Secondary Sources:

Certainly, one main way to limit your search is to be specific - look at tribes or events, such as the Blackfeet Indians. Note that a book on the Blackfeet might have a subject heading like this: Piegan Indians

However, books may be listed under narrower terms, such as Piegan Indians -- Biography. You also might need to broaden your search to a regional examination, such as Indians of North America -- Legal status, laws, etc. -- Montana.

Primary Sources:

The following terms often appear in the subject headings and designate primary sources:

sources, oral, personal narratives, diaries, pamphlets, etc.
