Information Literacy Ideas for Faculty

Introductory Remarks

The present libguide is meant to facilitate the integration of information literacy assignments and learning elements into existing syllabi and courses by suggesting add-ons and tweaks that aim to increase the students' awareness about a constantly changing information ecosystem. In contrast to previous trends in information literacy instruction, when the emphasis fell exclusively on teaching information retrieval, evaluation and integration as skills, the current trends, as they are articulated by the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy (see below link) favor an increased attention to conceptual questions, to the social and epistemological profile of information creation and organization as well as to the emotional aspect of learning as a transformative experience. The assignment ideas included in the tab on the left try to offer concrete examples of how these conceptual questions can be translated into a practice that makes sense to students and instructors alike.
