Tips on Web Source Formats

List as much of the information as possible. Sometimes you have to hunt, even moving to the parent website (the home page for the entire website). For example, if you found an article on CNN.com, you might need to search the main site (CNN.com) to find all the citation information. Here are some additional tips:

  • If there is no author for a web page, the title moves to the first position.
  • If there is no date, use n.d.
  • If needed, use paragraph number (para. #) when there are no page numbers
