This is a guide to connect students, faculty and staff with University, local and national resources for food insecurity, mental health, diversity and inclusion issues, and stress relief.

Campus Resources

Counseling Center

Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS)

The site offers information on prevention, treatment, job and housing assistance, self-screenings, and resources for all ages. 

Netcare Access

Netcare Access is Franklin County’s 24-hour mental health and substance abuse crisis intervention and assessment services for adults and adults with developmental disabilities. Netcare is your connection to the county’s Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health (ADAMH) system, providing referrals to other ADAMH agencies for treatment services. Crisis assistance with empathy. 

Mental Health America of Ohio (MHAOhio):

MHAOhio is an affiliate of Mental Health America, the country’s leading organization dedicated to helping all people live mentally healthier lives. They support the Central Ohio community by guiding people to mental health services that may not otherwise be accessible. They believe in inclusivity and work with ALL individuals and their families through each step on the path to wellness, from making initial referrals, to providing free mental health services, to helping maintain stability and productivity once they are achieved. They also have sections dedicated to a range of mental health disorders and conditions as well as online self-screening tests. (These are not intended to diagnose, but to offer a quick snapshot of a person's mental health.)

National: 

Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective (BEAM)

BEAM's purpose is to remove the barriers that Black people experience getting access to or staying connected with emotional health care and healing. They do this through education, training, advocacy and the creative arts.

FindTreatment.gov

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) collects information on thousands of state-licensed providers who specialize in treating substance use disorders, addiction, and mental illness. The site offers information on finding and paying for treatment as well as small sections on understanding addiction and mental health. 

National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), the lead federal agency for research on mental disorders, offers basic information on mental disorders, a range of related topics, and the latest mental health research. Some of the mental disorders covered include anxiety, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD/ADD), Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Bipolar Disorder, depression, eating disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Schizophrenia, and substance abuse. They also offer information on general groups of related medications and special populations.

Crisis Text Line:  The free, 24/7, Crisis Text Line serves anyone in any type of crisis, providing access to free, 24/7 emotional support and information via text. Data usage while texting Crisis Text Line is free and the number will not appear on a phone bill with the mobile service carrier.

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: Provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24/7.

The Trevor ProjectProvides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ+ young people under 25.

  • TrevorText - Confidential and secure resource that provides live help for LGBTQ+ youth with a trained specialist. Text START to 678-678.

The National Domestic Violence Hotline: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Highly-trained, expert advocates offer free, confidential, and compassionate support, crisis intervention information, education, and referral services in over 200 languages. Phone hotline and online chat.

Sexual Assault Response Network of Central Ohio (SARNCO): It provides advocacy and emotional support services in conjunction with medical and social services at OhioHealth Emergency Departments and other local facilities in central Ohio. Services include emergency room advocacy, 24-hour helpline, and recovery resources.
