The Alumni Author Program began in 2012 as a monthly rotating display. Displays included an alum's work or works, other books and collection items related to the author's themes, often a copy of their Otterbein yearbook, and occasionally other personal artifacts temporarily donated by the author. If possible, the alumni authors would be invited in for a reception at the Courtright Memorial Library where their work was on display.
While we have endeavored to keep this program alive, it has seen many changes and fluctuations since its inception in 2012. In 2018, the program moved from monthly author features to keeping the display of an individual up for two months, to a quarter, to a semester, to an entire academic year. Unfortunately, 2021 saw no alumni featured at all. Our alums are important to us however, and we want their work to be seen, celebrated, and given a place amongst our collections.
Now that we are back up to full staff, we are refocusing on the display and intend to move towards highlighting four alumni a semester. Though we are not doing reception events or author talks at this time, please stop by the library to view the display and perhaps check-out the books we've featured! Program updates, future events, and future authors will be posted here as well as on our social media pages. Thank you for your support in our efforts to reinvigorate the Courtright Memorial Library's Alumni Author Program!
