Research tips

Don't pay for research articles through Google or other search engines on the open web.  We have access to thousands of peer-reviewed and scholarly articles for your research.

If you are having trouble accessing an article feel free to email me with the citation and I will attempt to hunt it down for you.

LIMIT your searches to "Scholarly Articles" or "Peer Reviewed" articles. These articles are written by professionals in the fields of health and sports sciences.

Is this a scholarly article? Articles that are scholarly have abstracts at the beginning, methods, and conclusions and a large bibliography at the end.

What is a Peer Reviewed article?  Peer-reviewed articles are read by subject experts ("peers" of the author) before they are published in a journal. The experts look for mistakes, suggest the author make changes to the articles, and may even recommend that an article not be published at all. The purpose of peer review is to ensure that the highest quality articles are published. A peer-reviewed article and a refereed article are usually considered to be the same thing.

Health, Fitness, Athletic Training, & Physical Education Articles

LIMIT your searches to “PEER-REVIEWED” or “SCHOLARLY” articles.

WHERE CAN I SAVE MY ARTICLES? You can print them, email articles to yourself, or save them to a file.  You can export articles to Zotero or save articles to your space on Otterbein's server. The Z drive is your home folder.  My OTTERNET will give you access to your home folder from off-campus.  Choose the link: FTP access to your home directory.
