In Spring 2016, Otterbein hosts an array of Cuban visual and performing arts programming for Otterbein and the Greater Columbus Community. An Island Apart: Cuban Artists in Exile, a series of arts-related events, will explore contemporary Cuban art and culture, focusing on issues of identity, place-making, and ways of knowing. Events will include visual art exhibitions, lectures, and musical performances.
Artist Juan Si González will serve as artist in residence throughout the semester, while composer José María Vitier will undertake a residency in April, and artist and academic Coco Fusco will have a long running video exhibition.

Maestro José María Vitier will be an Artist-in-Residence for the month of April, leading master classes and performing Misa Cubana.
Between February and April, Artist-in-Residence Juan Si González will work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff and the community to explore themes of exile, migration, identity and place-making. The project will culminate in an exhibition.
