APA Style -6th edition

This guide provides resources for learning how to cite your sources using APA Style guidelines.

Lecture

Used this format to cite notes from a lecture (e.g. PowerPoint slides provided by your instructor). 
 
If you want to cite something from a lecture that was not included in a set of lecture notes, you would use the format for a personal communication (see the format for an interview, for example).
 
General Format
  • In-text citation, paraphrase OR quotation: (Author's surname, Year)
     
  • Reference list citation: Author's surname, Initial(s). (Year). Lecture title [Format]. Retrieved from University Course Name site.

  • In-text citation, paraphrase OR quotation: (Larson, 2010)
     

Reference list citation:

Larson, D. (2010). The joy of APA sytle [PowerPoint slides]. Retrieved from Professional Foundations 321 course site.
